Debbie,
I know that I have thanked you before for being so great with my kids, but wanted to just tell you how much it means that they learned to swim so well! We just lost our baby cousin, 3 year old Juliette, to drowning, and it is just devastating! She was dependent on floaties and it makes all your methods worthwhile when something like this happens. What you do for all of us saves our childrens' lives, and I love you for it!

Both my girls have had such wonderful swim experiences with Debbie. I have talked with other moms that had their kids in other places (Houston Swim Club, YMCA) and the lessons don't come anywhere close to the swim ability my girls have. I couldn't believe at age 2 1/2 my oldest daughter was swimming to the bottom of the pool to retrieve swim rings, all this after day 3 of Debbie's swim lessons!

My girls ask YEAR ROUND "When is it time to go to Debbie's swim lessons?!"

Dear Debbie,

I just wanted to thank you for all you did for my children. They both are swimming with confidence now. Joshua can even go off the diving board in the deep (11 feet) water and swim to the side. Zachie can jump off the side of the pool and get back to the side with ease. I can actually take both children to the pool for the first time without my husband.

We had a pool party for Joshua's birthday this weekend and he surprised everyone with his swimming ability (especially Grandparents). Thank you so much for what you gave to my children.

Both Kathleen and Ryan took swim lessons from Debbie and by the end of the FIRST lesson, they were jumping off the diving board into the deep end of the pool. When Ryan first arrived at Debbie's, he wanted NOTHING to do with water and would cry and scream if his face got wet from others splashing. I guarantee by the end of one two week session, your kids will have developed gills and fins and will amaze you in their abilities. Debbie's mother apparently started this swim school in a town in Texas (I think it is Beaumont). Debbie taught alongside her mother for years and then branched off on her own. There are so many people in Katy that have had their kids attend swim lessons with Debbie, and their kids are now on swim teams and are absolutely safe in the water.

The Learn to Swim website is a very informative site. I am terrified of water as I have never learned to swim, but I am absolutely calm when my kids are jumping/diving into my 10 foot deep pool, swimming under water, doing somersaults underwater, etc. etc. I really, in my heart, feel Debbie is one of the BEST swim instructors around. As she has a degree in education, she is great at relating to the kids. She also amazed me in that she was able to remember each child's strengths and weaknesses during the lessons (this was VERY important as far as Ryan was concerned!!) I do admit I cried during the first several lessons with Ryan because he was so upset to be in the water, BUT, the mother in me knew it was imperative for him to learn to swim, not just for his own personal safety, but for his social life down the road also.

Years ago, my oldest child took lessons at the YMCA in Pittsburgh with dismal results. It ended up being similar to those who go that route here....endless swim lessons with very slow results (and sometimes not even that). I just really believe in my heart that when you find someone who really knows what they are doing, who can relate to kids and teach them how to swim and remain safe in the water, and watch your child reach the point that you know if he/she falls into a pool, river, ocean off a boat they will survive, you know you have found the right teacher and the perfect teaching style for your child to be safe, happy and socially inclusive in the years ahead when swim parties are so commonplace that one is looked at with question marks if he/she cannot swim.

Debbie is truly superb at teaching kids to swim. The ones that are loving it from the start are the easy ones, they want to learn. The ones like Ryan test the mettle of any instructor. I was terrified, but when I saw how much she genuinely cares about these kids, I relaxed. You should see my kids now...they are awesome swimmers and I thank God I moved to Katy and found Debbie.

Debbie's classes do fill up quickly and once they are filled, no matter who you are, or how many times your kids have taken from her, she WON'T open up a spot because she has a limited class size. I assure you, if you get your kids in this swim school, you will NOT be disappointed!!

I wanted to let you know what happened to Kaleb! We were in Dallas at his grandmother's house and it was about 30 degrees outside. Kaleb was dressed in jeans, a sweatshirt and his heaviest coat. He was outside with his Aunt Cristin and he FELL IN THE POOL!!! He kicked right up and got to the side, she did not even have to jump in after him. I guess he was listening at swimming lessons! I was so proud of him and so happy he has such a wonderful teacher!!!!!

I don't know if you remember us or not, but you taught my daughters, Meg and Sophie in Beaumont in 2002 and 2003. Meg is 8 and Sophie is Gretchen's age. Anyway, we now live in Boerne and Meg is doing a swim clinic preparing for swim team tryouts. Her coach is well renowned. He actually taught the fastest swimmer in the world to swim. When he saw Meg swim for the first time (in a group of about 20 kids), he asked us who taught her to swim. And then proceeded to very highly compliment her instructors - you!!!

We thought you would appreciate hearing this compliment. She still loves swimming and we owe it to you.

Hope all is well with you in Katy. We do miss you. As I know many in Beaumont do as well.

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful job you and your mom are doing. I can't believe what a great job they are doing!! I appreciate your support during the rough time at first. Now they are going to drive you crazy! I did have a question. Do you recommend them going right into more lessons, or do they need to wait? I looked on your schedule and you are pretty much booked. We haven't seen you in years, but the good swim lessons you gave our daughter, Amelie, began a love for swimming, that continues today! Amie is now 15 and a sophomore in high school. She's been a competitive swimmer since 6th grade. Her girls' team won regionals last year, and placed well at state. Our family still talks about Ms. Sue and swim lessons. Thanks so much for the great experience over the years. Chase now almost 12 years old took lessons in Beaumont 10 years ago, then Kendall here in Katy! Both children are accomplished swimmers. Chase would like to compete on a diving team and Kendall was one of the top swimmers in her age group (8 years old) this year for swim team. It makes me so proud to see them shine as swimmers!

Now, as I train for my first Triathlon, I am in the pool with you working on my freestyle stroke. It is going to be a challenge for both of us I think...I'll email an update after the TRI in Sept.
